Boutonnieres are used for the special men in a wedding. Perfect Arrangement usually talks to the bride about this part of the wedding flower planning LAST. Bottom line we usually opt for a flower used in the bouquets to complement the wedding party.
But lately we have been having some fun with boutonnieres.
In June, for a wedding with a “boardwalk fun” theme we made pinwheels out of fabric for all the groomsmen. Starting with 2- 4 inch squares of fabric that are interfaced and glued together with fusible webbing they are attached to the vest with a magnetic clasp. This eliminates the use of boutonniere pins.
With such wonderful dahlia’s from Irvington Springs Farm, these whimsical single stem boutonnieres were very easy and fun to create.
For the groom that is a cook or just wants a more natural look, using herbs from the garden makes for more of a personal tribute. Note the vintage gold ribbon found at a local antique shop. And again, flowers are not necessary. Love this example of a groom paying tribute to his grandparents.
With all these fun ideas, maybe we shouldn’t talk about this LAST!
